Initially, ‘Glasses of Grace’ started because my niece, Grace, had to get glasses for reading. Since grace is such a spiritual topic and the fact that my niece is such a doll, I started thinking about the ways God shows us His grace on a daily basis. From His servings, His 'glasses of grace' to us - to seeing the world through the eyes of grace (or Grace, since she had new glasses and better sight), it made sense in more ways than one, so a title was born. Blessings and all, this is my life…

A Tribute

Just a word of thanks to those of you who have offered prayers for my sweet friend Bev and her family when I've mentioned them these last few months. Bev passed away this afternoon and as much as I know I have bragged on her, her testimony and her brave fight against cancer, I wanted to share the e-mail her husband sent after her death....again, another testament to a life well lived and a God who is faithful.

Hello:
Bev passed away today (Friday) at about 4:30pm. All of our family was at her bedside and we witnessed the entire 23 Psalm and we saw Bev walk fearlessly through the valley of the shadow of death. An amazing wife, mom, friend and Mimi. We will follow-up quickly with funeral celebration plans. Her last words were "To God be the Glory!"

Thanks for all your prayers.........God is Good and Great!

Blessings on You

The picture above was taken one month ago when they were on an extended family vacation in Florida and looking at it now, God was SO good to give their family that time together. They did not know then that cancer had gotten to Bev's liver. I went to see her this past Monday and prints of this picture were by the door for visitors as a thanks for their (our) prayers through the years. I met Bev through another friend when I was 11 or 12 years old, then we grew to be friends as I became an adult as well. Little did I know as a child what an influence she would have on my life as an adult! God has been good to bless me with her friendship. She has left an amazing legacy and I am proud to count her as a friend.

I can only imagine what she must be experiencing now!

I taught Bev's oldest daughter, Katie, in 3rd grade. It was my first year teaching and I made lifetime friends with the Maday's. (They are the family that everyone wants to be a part of!) Bev's continued and unwavering faith in God during her battle against this cancer is a testimony to anyone that suffers any hardship. There are people that will enter Heaven because of Bev's faithfulness to God before and during her fight against cancer. I am honored to have known Bev, my life is richer for simply knowing her. She taught everyone valuable lessons in life and now in death. I know that Heaven is celebrating to have an angel like Bev join them today! I can only imagine the sparkle in her eyes as she looks around and sees the beauty of Heaven. Bev's legacy will definitely never fade and I am sure that lives will definitely continue be touched and changed due to the life that Bev Maday lived here on this earth. May God continue to bless the Maday family.

Oh Dianne....I really have been praying for Bev and her family. A couple of days ago I prayed that if God wasn't going to heal her that He wouldn't let her linger a long time. I always wonder what that must be like to enter eternal life. Such a mystery. And it's also such a mystery, a painful one, how Bev can be so alive and yet so separated from her family and friends. I ponder that often when I'm missing my sister.

Dianne,
The memorial to Bev Maday was lovely as was the life that Bev lived. So many of my friends have lost a dear, dear friend today and my heart aches for each of you. She will be sorely missed by so many, not only her precious family, but also her church family, the CFA family and the many families she worked diligently to help through the marriage initiative at Winshape. What a life, what a testimony, what a warrior! Eternity is richer tonight, but there is a void here on earth as she will be sorely missed by those who knew her. Truly she was a woman of purpose! LF

Dianne, this is such sad new...and glorious news. Just to think, she's seen Jesus! I'll bet she's dancing with the angels now. Death is only hard for those of us left behind, because of how much we will miss them. I will pray for her family and friends as they go on with life without her. And for you, my sweet friend. How blessed you have been to have her as a friend. And she to have you.
God bless you all.
