Initially, ‘Glasses of Grace’ started because my niece, Grace, had to get glasses for reading. Since grace is such a spiritual topic and the fact that my niece is such a doll, I started thinking about the ways God shows us His grace on a daily basis. From His servings, His 'glasses of grace' to us - to seeing the world through the eyes of grace (or Grace, since she had new glasses and better sight), it made sense in more ways than one, so a title was born. Blessings and all, this is my life…

To blog or not to blog...

I almost used this title for my post on Sunday night, but chose not to...now it seems even more appropriate. My lack of posting lately has only come from a busy tax-season life right now, a few computer issues and nothing more. It had only been a week since I had posted my last entry....not a huge amount of time by any stretch of the imagination. I guess I should take it as a compliment that my posts had been missed, huh? The thing is that I post so many things that have '0 comments' that it makes me wonder who is even reading all this to begin with, you know? I know that sounds silly, but it just seems more fun when people agree, disagree and/or a constructive dialogue ensues.

My post today is a word about debit cards and banking. I got home last night to a letter from my bank saying that a merchant had reported information they had on record had been compromised. While my debit card was one of the ones involved, the letter assured me that the situation was being handled and that I would have a new debit card by February 12 which needed to be activated as soon as it was received. With this warning in mind, I checked my account this morning from work and saw that indeed $300 was deducted from my account yesterday that I have no idea about. I called customer service and was on the phone for about 20 minutes. The representative was very nice and helpful, but we came to the conclusion that I needed to go to my bank and fill out an affadavit saying that I had no knowledge of this debit and that it was not authorized by me. It only took me about 30 seconds to hang up the phone and explain to Judy (the CPA I work under) that I needed to go get this matter resolved. She agreed and I was back at work in 30 minutes or less. I got home today and my new debit card is already here, I am just debating now because I have a few things that are outstanding that I don't want to be rejected when they try to post. I asked the man at the bank about this today, before I knew my new card would be here tonight, and he said that if there is any other activity that I don't know about, I will have to fill out a new affadavit to have it turned over to be investigated as well. Although I know it's not the smartest thing to do, I am thinking I may watch and wait until this one specific debit comes through before I activate my new card. At any rate, it will be a few days before the $300 makes it back to my account. Stinks, huh? I love the convenience of having a debit card and I think the advantage definitely outweighs any disadvantage, I just hate that things like this happen in today's world.

Man, that stinks! Of course, if my debit card and account had been "compromised", it would have come back DECLINED!!! Ha ha! I pity the fool that steals my information...they won't be getting much!

A few days without a debit card? Yikes, I think I use mine at least once, if not twice, every day.

Hope it all works out soon. And thank you, for not wasting 4.2 seconds of my time clicking on your blog to find nothing...

A new post, yea!
